Happy to share an other fantasy artwork :)
This illustration was created to tell the story of Nimloth the Fair, one of the greatest gift brought by the Eldar to the Númenóreans, a white and luminous tree that was planted in the king’s court of Númenor. It was long cherished as a remembrance not only of the ancient connection between the two races but also of the light of Valinor in the West.
When Ar-Pharazon, the last king of Númenor, under the influence of Sauron and the fear of death, turned to the worship of Melkor and the Dark, the White Tree of Nûmenor was cut down by the king and burned on the altar-fire of Sauron's temple.
This is the end of the friendship between Númenórean and Valar, this is the downfall of Númenor.
